Fines when you subscribe through the App Store
Why fines need their own card, how to add one in the app, and how the monthly fines statement works.

If your FineStreak membership is billed through the App Store, your fines work a little differently from your subscription, and this page explains exactly how.
Apple handles your subscription. Apple does not handle fines.
A fine is a consequence you chose, paid to FineStreak directly. It is real money, and it never goes through your Apple Account. That is why turning on fines asks you for a card even though you already pay for your membership: the card is for fines only.
Adding your fines card
When you turn on fines for a goal, or from Settings under Billing, the app asks for a card. The card form is provided by Stripe, our payment processor. Your card number goes to Stripe directly and never touches FineStreak's servers.
Nothing is charged when you add the card. It is only ever charged the fine amounts you set, when you miss.
How fines are billed
Fines are never charged instantly. Each missed check-in on a goal with fines enabled logs a fine for the exact amount you set on that goal. Once a month, your pending fines are bundled into a single statement and charged to your fines card, itemised by the day you missed. If you had no misses that month, nothing is charged at all.
If you signed in with Hide My Email
Receipts and billing emails are delivered through Apple's relay address, and they do reach you. When you add your fines card, the app offers a spot for a direct email as well. It is optional, and adding one just means billing questions can reach you even if that forwarding ever changes.
Changing or removing the card
You can change the card used for fines any time in Settings under Billing. If you want fines off entirely, turn them off on each goal: the amount you set drops to zero and no future fine can be charged. Fines already incurred stay owed.
Questions or disputes
The disputing a fine page covers what to do when a fine feels wrong, and [email protected] reaches a human.
Did this answer your question? If anything is still unclear, email [email protected] and a human will get back to you, typically within 24 hours.
