How Much Does an Accountability Coach Cost? 2026 Prices

TL;DR: An accountability coach costs between $25 and $575 a month on the plans companies publish in 2026, and elite business programs start at $2,300 a month. What moves the price is how much of a person's time you buy. Morning and evening check-in messages from Boss as a Service start at $25. Daily replies from a GoalsWon human run $90. A weekly 20-minute call with Commit Action is $199. Daily check-ins plus weekly sessions at DoneDaily are $499. Every price below was read on the company's own site on September 16, 2026. This page answers what a coach costs the person hiring one. If you want to know what coaches earn, salary sites cover that, and if you are pricing software to run a coaching practice, that is a separate product category.

The Short Answer

Cheapest human option: $25 a month for scheduled check-in messages, with no calls.

Typical weekly-call coaching: about $200 a month for a short call each week plus messaging between calls.

Daily human contact plus a weekly session: about $500 a month.

Business strategy on top of accountability: $575 a month and up, with elite programs from $2,300.

Per session, from independent coaches: $50 to $500 a session is the range coaching companies quote themselves.

The cheaper route: if you only need the "did you do it?" part, apps and check-in services cover it for $5 to $25 a month. We break down what accountability apps charge separately.

Published Prices, Checked on Each Company's Own Site

Every figure here comes from the vendor's own pricing page, read on September 16, 2026. Prices are monthly, billed monthly, in US dollars.

BetterUp sells its coaching to employers. Its website asks buyers to request a demo, and we found no price for an individual on it, so it is left out of the table.

Independent coaches set their own rates. Commit Action's own FAQ puts one-off sessions at "$50 to $500 per session or more", and Habit Companion quotes $100 to $500 a session.

What Does the Money Actually Buy?

The fairest way to compare an accountability coach's price is by contact. A monthly figure hides how often a person actually reaches you, and that is the thing you are paying for. Worked out from the published prices above, using an average month of 30.4 days, or 4.3 weeks:

  • Commit Action at $199 buys about 4.3 weekly 20-minute calls. That is roughly $46 a call, with messaging between calls included.
  • Boss as a Service at $25 buys two check-ins a day, six days a week, which comes to about 52 check-ins. That is under 50 cents each.
  • GoalsWon at $90 buys a human reply every day, which is about $3 a day. On the yearly plan it is closer to $2.
  • DoneDaily at $499 buys daily contact plus a weekly session, about $16 a day.

So the expensive plans buy longer human conversations, and the cheap plans buy frequent short contact. Neither is wasted money. They do different jobs. A weekly call is where a plan gets built and changed. A daily check-in is where the plan gets done. If your problem is that you know what to do and skip it, frequency matters more than call length, and frequency is the cheap part.

Why the Prices You Find Online Disagree

Search this question and you get a spread of numbers that seem to contradict each other. Three things cause it.

Old roundups. A price roundup for accountability coaches that ranks for this question was published in December 2022 and last updated in November 2023. It lists Commit Action at $399 a month. Commit Action's own pricing page today lists its Accountability Coaching plan at $199 a month. Check the date on any price list before you budget from it.

Ranges instead of prices. Most coaching sites answer with a range such as "$200 to $500 a month" and then describe their own plan. A range shows the spread of the market, and the plan page shows what you actually get.

Three different questions share the same words. Salary sites rank for this search because people also ask what accountability coaches earn. Coaching-software companies rank because coaches pricing their own tools search similar phrases. Neither number is what you would pay.

What Does an Accountability Coach Do?

An accountability coach agrees your goals and next actions with you, then checks whether you did them. In practice that splits into two kinds of contact. The first is a planning conversation, usually a weekly call, where you review last week and set this week's commitments. Commit Action runs these as 20-minute calls on its entry plan and 30-minute calls on its business plan. The second is follow-up between calls: a message asking whether the task got done, sometimes with a request for proof. Boss as a Service asks members to "send a screenshot, a photo, a link, or anything else that shows it's done", and says it will keep following up until a missed task is resolved. What a coach adds over a friend is consistency and focus on you alone. What a coach adds over an app is judgement: a person can tell when the goal itself is wrong and help you change it.

Is an Accountability Coach Worth It?

An accountability coach is worth the money when your problem needs a person's judgement. That covers deciding what to work on when there are ten reasonable options, reshaping a plan after a job change or a bad month, and noticing a pattern you cannot see yourself. Business coaching tiers exist for this reason, and the business tiers are priced well above the accountability tiers. A coach is poor value when your problem is follow-through on something already decided: go to the gym on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, write for 30 minutes before work, stop scrolling after 10 PM. You would be paying $200 a month for a weekly conversation when what you need is contact on the days the habit happens. For that job the useful questions are simpler. Does something reach you at the time the habit is due? Does it check that you did it? Does anything happen when you skip? We compare an AI accountability app with a human coach in more detail, including when a mix of both makes sense.

How to Pay Less for a Coach

Every service in the table rewards a longer commitment, and most let you try before the money is gone.

  • Commit Action: 20% off on an annual plan, no contract, and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
  • Boss as a Service: 20% off billed quarterly, 33% off billed yearly, and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
  • DoneDaily: 10% off for three months, 20% off for twelve.
  • GoalsWon: $720 a year, which works out to $60 a month against $90 billed monthly. The yearly plan comes with a 14-day free trial and the monthly plan with 7 days.

Two cautions before you prepay. A discount only saves money if you are still using the service in month ten, so use the trial or the guarantee window to find out whether the contact style suits you. And match the plan to the job: if calls are what you need, the cheapest message-only tier will not fix that.

Cheaper Options That Cover Part of the Job

If the coach's main value to you is the check-in, three cheaper routes cover it.

A free accountability partner. A friend or someone matched through a community checks in and you return the favour. It costs nothing and works as long as both of you stay consistent. Our guide on finding an accountability partner who sticks covers where to look.

A human check-in service. Boss as a Service at $25 a month is a real person following up twice a day, six days a week, and asking for proof. If you want to compare it with similar services, see the alternatives to Boss as a Service.

An app that contacts you. FineStreak sits here. You set a goal and the check-in times that fit your week, and an Agent calls you at that time or sends you a text. When a goal needs proof, you send a photo or screenshot, and it is checked against that specific goal, so a picture that does not match gets rejected and a re-sent photo gets refused. Fines are optional: once your rank unlocks them, you can add one to a goal on the FineStreak website, starting at $0.10 and capped by your rank. Entry is $8 a month, and Standard is $20 a month, dropping to $15 a month for life after your first 7-day streak. The website also sells a Founding plan at $5 a month for life while spots last. Calls reach US numbers. Texts reach US and Canadian numbers.

What you give up is the planning conversation. The Agent checks whether you did the thing you set. It does not sit down with you to decide what the thing should be. One option is to pair the two: a monthly session with a person for direction, and an app for the days in between.

The Summary

An accountability coach costs $25 to $575 a month on published 2026 plans, with elite programs from $2,300. Low prices buy frequent short check-ins, and high prices buy longer calls and business-focused sessions. Compare plans by contact, check the date on any price list, and use the annual discounts and money-back guarantees once you know a style works for you. If what you need is follow-through on a plan you have already made, the check-in part costs far less than a coach.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do accountability coaches charge?

Published plans in September 2026 run from $25 a month to $575 a month, with elite business programs starting at $2,300. Boss as a Service starts at $25 for morning and evening check-ins, GoalsWon is $90 for daily replies from a human, Commit Action is $199 for a weekly 20-minute call plus messaging, and DoneDaily is $499 for daily check-ins and weekly sessions. Independent coaches who charge by the session quote $50 to $500 per session.

What does an accountability coach do?

An accountability coach agrees your goals and next actions with you, then checks whether you did them. The contact is usually a weekly call, messages between calls, or both. Some services also ask for proof: Boss as a Service asks for a screenshot, photo or link showing the task is done. A coach who also works on strategy, such as Commit Action's business tier, reviews what you are working on as well as whether you did it.

Is an accountability coach worth the money?

It is worth it when you need a person to help decide what to work on, adjust the plan as things change, or talk through why you keep stalling. It is poor value when you already know exactly what to do and only need someone to check that you did it. That part can be bought for far less, from a $25 check-in service or an app that contacts you at the time you set.

Is there a cheaper alternative to an accountability coach?

Yes. A free accountability partner costs nothing but depends on the other person staying consistent. Human check-in services start at $25 a month with Boss as a Service. Apps cost less again: FineStreak plans run $5 to $20 a month, and an Agent calls or texts you at the check-in times you set, then checks the photo or screenshot you send back. Calls reach US numbers, and texts reach US and Canadian numbers. You give up the strategy conversation a human provides.

How can I pay less for an accountability coach?

Pay for a longer term and use the guarantee. Commit Action takes 20% off an annual plan, Boss as a Service takes 20% off quarterly and 33% off yearly, DoneDaily takes 10% off a quarter and 20% off a year, and GoalsWon's yearly plan works out to $60 a month instead of $90. Commit Action and Boss as a Service both offer a 30-day money-back guarantee.
